Methodology

Installation and Implementation

Vendor Managed Technologies' (VMT's) methodology is a process designed to ensure the success of the implementation while minimizing the interruption and impact upon the project team's resources and organization. VMT's Implementation Manager and the project team use this methodology as a guide to identify strategic and tactical issues as well as measure the overall quality of the implementation.

Phase One: Plan

The project team gathers together to introduce the application, to explain the benefits to the organization, and to begin the process of a successful implementation. A critical piece to this step is determining what defines success. VMT's personnel works with client personnel to:

  • Identify the goals of the project
  • Establish a project timeline
  • Create measurable success criterion

Phase Two: Configure

The project team installs and configures the application based upon the requirements developed in the Plan. External interfaces needed to support the application are created. Output of data and reporting requirements are established to satisfy specific business needs. A review of the implementation goals is made to ensure optimal configuration of the application.

Phase Three: Validate

The project team verifies the validity of the data and the application by performing production activities with live data. The project team examines the application performance, functionality and usability. An evaluation of the success criteria accomplishments is made and adjustments are implemented. Key end users perform the acceptance testing.

Phase Four: Deploy

The application is introduced into a production environment. End user training is conducted and business practices are implemented to incorporate the application into daily use by the end users. Follow up training designed to sustain the use of the product is determined.

Phase Five: Maintain

With Velocity in production or "live," steps are taken to provide for ongoing maintenance. Over time, requirements and expectations for Velocity will change. Velocity is flexible and open which enables for such inevitable implementation requests. Knowledge transfer to the customer for ongoing maintenance and tools to promote self-sufficiency are provided to minimize reliance on external resources. Annual support and maintenance service is offered to all clients.

Additional consulting is also available to help ensure widespread use of Velocity within the targeted end users.
